I decided to create a website about pitbulls, because I know all too well how difficult it is to get good information on them. I do not own a pure bred Amercian Pitbul Terrier,and I never claim to. My dog's mother was a pure pit,and normally they breed her and sell pure pits..
Indigo came about from his doggie mama getting loose when it was her "peak" time, and decided the neighbors dog would make a good daddy..hehe...and from I understand, his dad had pit him too...
I have dealt with the stereo type of owning a pit. I have taken him to the beach, where most people let there dogs run loose,and when I attempt to let Indigo loose to run and frollock on the sand, parents huddle there children,or comment on how I should keep my dog on a leash! ( I didnt say them telling the shepards owners to leash there dogs!)
There has been many moments of people assuming my sweet precious pitmutt is this ferocious ,mean, people killer. When the opposite is definatly true...
From the time he had all his shots, I began taking him to local dog parks around town, to get him socialized to people, and other dogs.
I also socialized him around children plenty of times...(he loves little girls,he literally follows them around like a "puppy dog"...)
Yes its true, its not wise to leave any dog alone with a child.
But, from what I hear, the neighbors 1 yr old daughter sticks her fingers thru the wooden fence, and Indigo licks it to death!
Indigo has a 6 mos old pure black kitten.. ( I say its his, because he spends more time with her than I, and when she was a kitty, he always knew where she was, stalked her,herded her if she escaped out the back yard,and actually, one time, i caught him carrying her around by the scruff of her neck, like a mama cat does to kittens!)
My goal for this site is to get people to express them selfs, and to get some basic info on how raising a pit is different than raising a poodle!
You have to buy different toys, different collars,and be consistant on the training....
